Interior design in North London
Kitchens, bathrooms, joinery, lighting and finishes designed with the architecture and delivered by the same team.
Interior design on a construction project is the set of decisions that determine how the finished rooms look, feel and work: the kitchen and bathroom layouts, the joinery, the lighting scheme, the floors, the tiles, the ironmongery and the colours. On a renovation or extension these decisions are also construction decisions — a lighting plan is a first-fix drawing, a bespoke wardrobe is a carpentry package — which is why we design interiors alongside the architecture rather than after it.
Milkov & Son provides interior design and finishing for its own projects in North London, from a finishes schedule for a single extension to a full specification for a whole house.
Kitchens must be chosen before drainage and electrics are laid. Tiles must be chosen before the plasterer sets out. Floor finishes decide floor build-ups and door heights. Lighting decides where ceilings are chased. We give clients a decisions calendar at the start of the build — what needs choosing by when — so nothing is rushed and nothing holds the site up. Read why interior design should be considered before construction ends.
A 1930s semi, an Edwardian villa and a new house each ask for something different: original staircases, picture rails and fireplaces worth keeping; ceiling heights that suit pendant lighting or do not; parquet that can be lifted and relaid. Our finished work — the green shaker kitchen with its herringbone parquet, the blue island at Hill Crescent, the walnut and white kitchen at Arlington Road — reflects clients' tastes, delivered with the same precision as the structure behind them.
Interior budgets vary more than any other part of a project. As a 2026 guide for North London: kitchens from £15,000 for a good mid-range fitted kitchen to £60,000 and beyond for bespoke; bathrooms £8,000–£20,000 supplied and fitted; bespoke joinery from £2,500 for a fitted wardrobe; engineered oak or parquet flooring £80–£180 per m² fitted; porcelain tiling £90–£200 per m² fitted. We agree these budgets at feasibility so the architecture and the interiors are one number, not two.
Our interior design service is delivered as part of Milkov & Son projects — extensions, renovations and new homes — so that design and delivery sit with one team. We do not currently offer stand-alone decoration or styling.
Yes. We regularly deliver schemes designed by independent interior designers and will coordinate first-fix drawings, samples and specialist suppliers with them.
Before technical design is finished, and certainly before the drainage and electrical first fix. We give a decisions calendar at the start of the project with dates for every choice.
We design and install them and work with a range of suppliers; clients can buy through us or directly. Either way we check the specification against the drawings before ordering.
